Οι Γυναίκες υπερασπίζονται την Ειρήνη
Ένα ηχηρό μήνυμα για την Ειρήνη εστάλη τον Νοέμβριο του 2004 από τη Γενεύη, όπου πραγματοποιήθηκε το διεθνές συνέδριο με θέμα «Οι Γυναίκες υπερασπίζονται την Ειρήνη».
Το Συνέδριο διοργανώθηκε με πρωτοβουλία της κυρίας Suzanne Mubarak από την «Διεθνή Κίνηση Γυναικών για την Ειρήνη -Suzanne Mubarak» σε συνεργασία με το Υπουργείο Εξωτερικών της Ελβετίας, στην έδρα του Διεθνούς Οργανισμού Εμπορίου [ILO] και αποτελεί συνέχεια των Συνεδρίων που διοργανώθηκαν το 2002 στο Sharm El Sheikh της Αιγύπτου και το 2003 στην έδρα της UNESCO στο Παρίσι, και συγκέντρωσε προσωπικότητες απ’ όλο τον κόσμο που έχουν αφιερώσει το έργο τους στο χτίσιμο της Ειρήνης- νομπελίστες, ακαδημαϊκούς, εκπροσώπους κυβερνήσεων, διεθνών οργανισμών και μη κυβερνητικών οργανώσεων, κ.α.
Ομιλητές στην τελετή έναρξης του Συνεδρίου ήταν η Πρόεδρος της «Διεθνούς Κίνησης Γυναικών για την Ειρήνη», κυρία Suzanne Mubarak, η Υπουργός Εξωτερικών της Ελβετίας , κυρία Micheline Calmy- Rey, ο Γενικός Διευθυντής του ILO , κύριος Juan Somavia και εκπρόσωποι των τοπικών αρχών της Γενεύης.
Το Συνέδριο παρακολούθησαν τα μέλη του Διοικητικού Συμβουλίου της «Κίνησης Γυναικών για την Ειρήνη»– η Bασίλισα Sabeeka του Μπαχρέιν, η σύζυγος το τέως Προέδρου του Λιβάνου κυρία Mona Harawi, ο τέως Γενικός Γραμματέας του ΟΗΕ, κύριος Boutros-Boutros Ghali, ο Διευθυντής της Βιβλιοθήκης της Αλεξάνδρειας Δρ. Ismail Serageldin, η Πρέσβυς Καλής Θελήσεως της UNESCO, κυρία Μαριάννα Β. Βαρδινογιάννη, η Δρ. Leila Takla, κ.ά. Επίσης παρευρέθησαν προσωπικότητες όπως η Πρώτη Κυρία του Λιβάνου κυρία Νazek Hariri, η Υπουργός για θέματα Εκπατρισμένων της Συρίας Δρ Bouthaina Shaaban, η Πρέσβυς της Αιγύπτου στην Ελβετία Kυρία Nihad Zikry, κ.ά.
Σκοπός του Συνεδρίου ήταν να ακουστεί η φωνή των γυναικών που βίωσαν τον πόλεμο ή αγωνίστηκαν για την Ειρήνη στις χώρες τους. Οι αληθινές ιστορίες τους, ιστορίες αντίστασης και θάρρους, συγκλόνισαν κυριολεκτικά τους παρευρισκόμενους, και ανέδειξαν με τον πιο εύγλωττο τρόπο τη σημασία του ρόλου των γυναικών στο χτίσιμο και τη διατήρηση της Ειρήνης.
Όπως τόνισε η κυρία Mubarak στην εναρκτήρια ομιλία της «η παρουσία των γυναικών αυτών στο Συνέδριο είναι η ζωντανή απόδειξη ότι μέσα από την αποφασιστικότητα είναι δυνατόν να συγκεντρώσουμε σημαντικές δυνάμεις, να ξεπεράσουμε τον πόνο των ενόπλων συγκρούσεων, να περιορίσουμε τα πλοκάμια της βίας ακόμα και αν ήμαστε οι πρώτοι που υποφέραμε από αυτήν, και να στραφούμε χωρίς δισταγμό στην αναδόμηση των κατεστραμμένων σπιτιών, των χωρών και της κοινωνίας γενικότερα».
Τη δική τους σφραγίδα άφησαν στο Συνέδριο και προσωπικότητες όπως η βραβευμένη με Νόμπελ Ειρήνης Jody Williams, η Επίτροπος του ΟΗΕ για τα Ανθρώπινα Δικαιώματα, κ. Louise Arbour, η πρώην Πρόεδρος της Ιρλανδίας κ. Mary Robinson, ο πρώην Γενικός Διευθυντής της UNESCO, κ. Federico Mayor, η ευρωβουλευτής κ. Emma Bonino, η Πρόεδρος της Γερουσίας του Βελγίου, κ. Anne Marie Lizin, κ..α.
Η κυρία Βαρδινογιάννη, στην ομιλία της τόνισε τη σημασία των δυνατοτήτων που δίνει αυτό το Συνέδριο «στην κατανόηση και τη συνεργασία ανάμεσα στις Ευρωπαίες γυναίκες και τις γυναίκες του υπόλοιπου κόσμου, μέσα από τη δυναμική ενός ανθρώπινου μωσαϊκού από διαφορετικούς πολιτισμούς» και υπογράμμισε το ρόλο της παιδείας στη διαμόρφωση των νοοτροπιών, λέγοντας μεταξύ άλλων ότι «η Ειρήνη δεν είναι θέμα μόνο πολιτικών αποφάσεων αλλά είναι και ζήτημα ηθικής , ιδεολογίας και καθημερινής πρακτικής».
Στο τέλος του Συνεδρίου συντάχθηκε και ψηφίστηκε ομόφωνα από την ολομέλεια ένα Σχέδιο Δράσης για τον συντονισμό των γυναικών και των γυναικείων οργανώσεων, με βασικούς στρατηγικούς άξονες:
- Τη δημιουργία της «Παγκόσμιας Συμμαχίας Γυναικών που υπερασπίζονται την Ειρήνη»
- Την προετοιμασία ενός «Χάρτη Ειρήνης» όπου θα εντοπίζονται τα μέρη του κόσμου όπου πραγματοποιούνται δραστηριότητες γυναικών για την ειρήνη.
- Τον διάλογο με τα πρόσωπα που κατέχουν υψηλά αξιώματα στην πολιτική, την οικονομία και στα Μέσα Ενημέρωσης.
- Τη δημιουργία Παγκόσμιας Τράπεζας για Πρωτοβουλίες για την Ειρήνη.
- Τη δημιουργία βάσης δεδομένων καθώς και ενός δικτύου επικοινωνίας και ενημέρωσης των γυναικών για την έγκαιρη προειδοποίηση για σημεία που δημιουργούνται προβλήματα που απειλούν την ειρήνη .
