Η έκκληση της Χάγης για Ειρήνη
Από τις 11 ως τις 15 Μαίου, 10.000 άνθρωποι από 100 χώρες του κόσμου, εκπρόσωποι 600 μη κυβερνητικών οργανώσεων, απλοί πολίτες, νέοι και παιδιά, , αλλά και υπουργοί εξωτερικών , νομπελίστες, καθηγητές, προσωπικότητες διεθνούς κύρους και επικεφαλής διεθνών οργανισμών, πήραν μέρος στην «Έκκληση της Χάγης για Ειρήνη».
Λίγο πριν τελειώσει ο 20ος αιώνας, ο πιο αιμοσταγής στην ιστορία της ανθρωπότητας, και λίγο πριν την ανατολή του 21ου αιώνα, η παγκόσμια κοινωνία των πολιτών πραγματοποίησε στη Χάγη ένα μεγαλειώδες συνέδριο ειρήνης, αφιερωμένο στα παιδιά και στους νέους, σ' εκείνους που αποκλειστικά και δικαιωματικά ανήκει ο καινούριος αιώνας.
Από την Ελλάδα, στο συνέδριο συμμετείχαν το «Ίδρυμα για το Παιδί και την Οικογένεια», και ο Σύλλογος Φίλων Παιδιών με Καρκίνο «ΕΛΠΙΔΑ».
Η Πρόεδρος των δύο οργανώσεων , κυρία Μαριάννα Β. Βαρδινογιάννη, στην ομιλία της κατά την έναρξη του συνεδρίου, αναφέρθηκε στον πολιτισμό ειρήνης υπογραμμίζοντας ότι «η ειρήνη δεν μπορεί να επιβληθεί, δεν μπορεί να είναι μια απόφαση κορυφής, αλλά μόνο να γεννηθεί από τη βάση, γιατί μέχρι σήμερα οι νόμοι και οι αποφάσεις για την ειρήνη και την αποφυγή της βίας υπήρξαν στείροι, εξαιτίας του ότι οι νοοτροπίες δεν άλλαξαν». Ως βασικό μέσο δράσης για την αλλαγή αυτής της νοοτροπίας πρότεινε την ενσωμάτωση μιας κουλτούρας ειρήνης στα εκπαιδευτικά προγράμματα καθώς και την εντατικοποίηση της καταπολέμησης του αναλφαβητισμού.
Στη συζήτηση στρογγυλής τραπέζης, που διοργάνωσαν στο πλαίσιο του συνεδρίου, το «Ίδρυμα για το Παιδί και την Οικογένεια» και η «ΕΛΠΙΔΑ», με θέμα «Η επίδραση της ραδιενέργειας στην υγειά των παιδιών» , ομιλητές ήταν η κ. Καίτη Μεταξωτού, καθηγήτρια της Ιατρικής Σχολής του Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών, ο κ. Fredrik Heffermehl, αντιπρόεδρος του Διεθνούς Γραφείου για την Ειρήνη, ο κ. Michel Fernex, , καθηγητής του πανεπιστημίου της Βασιλείας και μέλος του Διοικητικού Συμβουλίου της «Διεθνούς Ένωσης Γιατρών για την πρόληψη του πυρηνικού πολέμου», η κ. Linda Walker, διευθύντρια του προγράμματος «Για τα παιδιά του Τσέρνομπιλ». Όπως τόνισαν όλοι οι ομιλητές, το γεγονός ότι η ραδιενέργεια έχει πολύ σοβαρές επιπτώσεις όχι μόνο στην υγεία των παιδιών αλλά και στην υγεία των επερχόμενων γενεών, είναι αναγκαίο η διεθνής κοινότητα να πάρει δραστικά μέτρα για την πρόληψη των πυρηνικών ατυχημάτων, για την άμεση βοήθεια στα θύματα της ραδιενέργειας και για την ενίσχυση των προγραμμάτων έρευνας για την πρόληψη των προβλημάτων υγείας που σχετίζονται με τη ραδιενέργεια.
Αξίζει να σημειωθεί ότι «Η έκκληση της Χάγης για Ειρήνη» διοργανώθηκε από 74 διεθνείς φορείς, όπως Διεθνής Αμνηστία, Ερυθρός Σταυρός, International Association of Lawyers Against Nuclear Arms (IALANA), International Peace Bureau (IPB), International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War (IPPNW), World Federalist Movement-Institute for Global Policy (WFM), EarthAction International, European Action Council for Peace in the Balkans, International Fellowship of Reconciliation, United Nations of Youth, Women for Peace κ.ά., πλαισιώθηκε από προσωπικότητες διεθνούς κύρους όπως ο Archbishop Desmond Tutu, ο Professor Joseph Rotblat, η Elie Wiesel, η Jody Williams, ο Mairead Maguire Corrigan, ο Jose Ramos Horta, ο Graca Machel, ο Oscar Arias Sanchez, ο Alfredo Perez Esquivel, π Maj-Britt Theorin, ο Norman Borlaug, ο Dr. Bernard Lown, η Christa Wolf, ο Sir Peter Ustinov, η Βασίλισσα Νουρ της Ιορδανίας, ο Sheikh Hasina, ο Kofi Annan, ο Carol Bellamy , η Arudhati Roy, κ.ά., και συνέταξε την ατζέντα για την Ειρήνη και τη Δικαιοσύνη στον 21ο αιώνα πάνω σε τέσσερις βασικούς άξονες:
1. Ενίσχυση των θεσμών και των νόμων που προστατεύουν τα ανθρώπινα δικαιώματα.
2. Προώθηση της ειρηνικής επίλυσης των διαφορών, και πρόληψη των βίαιων συγκρούσεων.
3. Ανάπτυξη των προσπαθειών αφοπλισμού, συμπεριλαμβανομένης της κατάργησης των πυρηνικών όπλων.
4. Διερεύνηση των αιτιών πολέμου και ανάπτυξη ενός πολιτισμού ειρήνης.
«Η έκκληση της Χάγης για Ειρήνη» άρχισε και τελείωσε πανηγυρικά και όπως σχολίασε ο διεθνής τύπος αποτελεί ορόσημο για το Παγκόσμιο Κίνημα Ειρήνης.
Τα πολιτικά συνθήματα, και οι σημαίες έμειναν στην άκρη . Οι σύνεδροι εστίασαν τη προσοχή τους στην αναζήτηση πρακτικών λύσεων για τη κατάπαυση του πυρός και την εδραίωση της ειρήνης.
Για πρώτη φορά τόσο μαζικά και τόσο θεαματικά προβλήθηκε το νέο διπλωματικό μοντέλο, αυτό που ο Γενικός Γραμματέας των Ηνωμένων Εθνών, Kofi Annan, στην τελετή λήξης του συνεδρίου χαρακτήρισε «επανάσταση των μη κυβερνητικών οργανώσεων».
«Η έκκληση της Χάγης για Ειρήνη» συνόψισε και προέκτεινε την πρωτοβουλία της παγκόσμιας κοινωνίας των πολιτών ν’ ανοίξει η ίδια απ' ευθείας διάλογο με τους ηγέτες, τις κυβερνήσεις και τους διεθνείς οργανισμούς να συνεργαστούν για την εδραίωση της ειρήνης και της δικαιοσύνης στον κόσμο.
Η υπόσχεση, η ευχή και η έκκληση της Χάγης ήταν:
«Η ΕΙΡΗΝΗ ΕΙΝΑΙ ΑΝΘΡΩΠΙΝΟ ΔΙΚΑΙΩΜΑ ΚΑΙ ΜΟΝΟ ΟΛΟΙ ΜΑΖΙ ΜΠΟΡΟΥΜΕ ΝΑ ΤΟ ΥΠΕΡΑΣΠΙΣΤΟΥΜΕ ΚΑΙ ΘΑ ΤΟ ΠΡΑΞΟΥΜΕ».
