Προτεραιότητα στην αξιοπρέπεια και στην ασφάλεια των παιδιών στην Ευρώπη
«Προτεραιότητα στην αξιοπρέπεια και στην ασφάλεια των παιδιών στην Ευρώπη» ήταν το θέμα της πρώτης ημερίδας που διοργάνωσε το «Ίδρυμα για το Παιδί και την Οικογένεια», σε συνεργασία με το «European Office for Missing and Exploited Children» -μη κυβερνητικό οργανισμό για τη μελέτη, την έρευνα, την ευαισθητοποίηση, την πρόληψη γύρω από θέματα κακοποίησης, εξαφάνισης κι εκμετάλλευσης του παιδιού- και με το «Fondation pour l' Enfance» -ιδιωτικό Γαλλικό ίδρυμα κοινωνικού χαρακτήρα για τα προβλήματα της παιδικής ηλικίας.
Κατά τη διάρκεια της ημερίδας, που πραγματοποιήθηκε στις 17 Ιουνίου 1997 στο Ζάππειο Μέγαρο, Έλληνες και ξένοι επιστήμονες αντάλλαξαν απόψεις αλλά και στοιχεία σχετικά με τη διάσταση και τις παραμέτρους του φαινομένου της κακοποίησης, της εκμετάλλευσης και της εξαφάνισης των παιδιών σε Ευρωπαϊκό επίπεδο και πρότειναν μέτρα για τη καταστολή του.
Μεταξύ άλλων τα θέματα που συζητήθηκαν και αναλύθηκαν ήταν η δράση της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης στην αντιμετώπιση της εξαφάνισης και της εκμετάλλευσης παιδιών, ο ρόλος του Ευρωπαϊκού Συμβουλίου στην επίλυση του προβλήματος, οι οικογενειακοί και κοινωνικοί παράγοντες υψηλού κινδύνου, ο ρόλος της διεθνούς αστυνομικής συνεργασίας μέσω της INTERPOL και της Scotland Yard, η διαπανεπιστημιακή συνεργασία στο χώρο της έρευνας, κ.ά.
Την έναρξη της ημερίδας έκανε η Πρόεδρος του «Ιδρύματος για το Παιδί και την Οικογένεια», κυρία Μαριάννα Β. Βαρδινογιάννη, ενώ το πάνελ συντόνισε η Καθηγήτρια Κοινωνιολογίας του Παντείου Πανεπιστημίου, κυρία Λουκία Μουσούρου.
