Μητέρα-αιώνιο σύμβολο Ζωής, Αγάπης, Ελπίδας
Για τρίτη συνεχή χρονιά το «Ίδρυμα για το Παιδί και την Οικογένεια» τίμησε τη μητέρα, βραβεύοντας έξι μητέρες που η καθεμιά με το δικό της ξεχωριστό τρόπο, δίνει τη μάχη της χαρίζοντας ζωή, αγάπη κι ελπίδα.
Η εκδήλωση πραγματοποιήθηκε στο Δημοτικό Θέατρο του Πειραιά τον Μάϊο του 2002 και οι τιμώμενες μητέρες ήταν : η Δέσποινα Παπαστελιανού, η Χρυστάλλα Πολυκανδριώτη, η Χρύσα Σοφιανοπούλου, η Νίτσα Μεσογίτου, η Ευαγγελία Ραυτοπούλου και η Φλορίντα Ρόχας Ροντρίγκεζ.
Όπως είπε χαρακτηριστικά στη σύντομη ομιλία της η Πρόεδρος του «Ίδρύματος για το Παιδί και την Οικογένεια», κ. Μαριάννα Β. Βαρδινογιάννη, οι μητέρες που βραβεύουμε σήμερα είναι όλες μητέρες ξεχωριστές, γιατί είναι μητέρες καθημερινές, μητέρες που ξέρουν να αγαπούν και ξέρουν να αγωνίζονται, μητέρες που στη πρώτη γραμμή της μάχης για την επιβίωση αγωνίζονται για το μέλλον των παιδιών τους. Μητέρες που το παράδειγμα τους γίνεται σύμβολο σε μια εποχή που τα αυθεντικά σύμβολα είναι δυσεύρετα. Ο προσωπικός τους αγώνας, όσο διαφορετικός και αν είναι, χαρακτηρίζεται από μια κοινή συνισταμένη: την καρδιά της μητέρας που χτυπά με τον ίδιο τρόπο παντού και πάντοτε. Και αυτό ακριβώς δίνει στις μητέρες μεγαλύτερη παγκόσμια δύναμη που ανατρέπει το προσδοκώμενο, υπερβαίνει πολλές φορές τα κοινά ανθρώπινα όρια, πολεμά τη μοίρα, αντιστρέφει τους φυσικούς νόμους, με αδάμαστη πίστη θέληση, θάρρος και υπομονή. Ένα όπλο με το οποίο η θεϊκή πρόνοια προίκισε τη γυναικεία φύση για την εκπλήρωση της ιερής αποστολής : το έργο της ζωής».
Στην εκδήλωση απηύθυναν χαιρετισμό η κυρία Ελένη Κούρκουλα, Υφυπουργός Παιδείας και Θρησκευμάτων, και ο κύριος Χρήστος Αγραπίδης, Δήμαρχος του Πειραιά.
Σε καθεμιά από τις τιμώμενες μητέρες προσφέρθηκε ένα μικρό γλυπτό που φιλοτέχνησε ο καλλιτέχνης Χάρης Μεσήνης και ένα συμβολικό χρηματικό ποσό.
Την εκδήλωση στο κατάμεστο από κόσμο Δημοτικό Θέατρο του Πειραιά παρακολούθησαν μεταξύ άλλων και οι βουλευτές Φάνη Πάλλη-Πετραλιά, Γεώργιος Καλατζής, Παναγιώτης Μελάς και Βασίλειος Μιχαλολιάκος, η Γενική Γραμματέας Πρόνοιας, κ. Μαρία Μπελδέκου, η Γενική Γραμματέας Ισότητας, κ. Εφη Μπέκου, η κυρία Μιλένα Αποστολάκη, καθώς και εκπρόσωποι πολλών κοινωνικών φορέων και συλλόγων.
