The Educational Institute AKMI IVT honours Marianna V. Vardinoyannis

On the occasion of the International Women's Day, the AKMI Institute of Vocational Training honoured Mrs Marianna V. Vardinoyannis, on Tuesday 8th of March 2011.
The AKMI Institute of Vocational Training awarded Mrs Vardinoyannis within the framework of the institution established in the recent years by the administration of the school. Its aim is to honour women who have left their mark on the social reality and made their own history in the arts, culture, politics, business and social contribution through their work. Choosing Mrs Vardinoyannis as this year's was a decision made by the AKMI students.
The event took place in the "Odysseas Elytis" amphitheatre of the school under the presence of many students. The honorary distinction was presented to Mrs Vardinoyannis by the President of the AKMI, Mr Konstantinos Rodopoulos. He pointed out that this award is the least tribute befitting a woman who has rightly been characterised as a "second mother" by all the children she supports and constitutes the least acknowledgement for her over 20 years devotion to her great goal of protecting the ill children.

Accepting the award, Mrs Vardinoyannis addressed the audience with a brief greeting, saying inter alias: "… It is a great honour for me to receive an award from young people; from people I have never met until today and who are nevertheless so familiar, as we are linked together by common visions for the present and the future of our society. This expression of support for my efforts for a better tomorrow means a lot to me. I have marched on throughout my whole life following these visions, considering as my duty to contribute to my fellow human beings and remain committed to the expectations I have also had since I was a student to build a better world. When we are young we believe we can change the world. And this is why I invite all of you to never let anything disprove this belief. Because even the smallest effort can make the biggest difference when it is made through collective mobilization for a sacred purpose… Your dreams, goals and principles must be your compass in life. And never give up. Because above all, you are healthy and strong! And furthermore, as young people you have the advantage of hope for the future which in combination with a good education and the proper orientation, becomes the foundation for success…"

The event was coordinated by Mr Nikos Hatzinikolaou, publisher-journalist and AKMIΒ  teacher, whom Mrs Vardinoyannis thanked him for supporting the initiatives of the "ELPIDA" Association during all these years and with great sensitivity, characterising him as a "role model who inspires the youth with his moral stance and attitude to life".
