Protecting the civilians
Though unarmed, children, women and the elderly are frequent victims of the armed conflicts, or they are forced to live under inhumane conditions, without water, food, shelter and medical care, even in extreme weather conditions, whether heat or frost, with the fear of death.
This is a proof of the deficiency of governments and peace and humanitarian organisations to effectively conflicts, protect and help the civilians.
The “Foundation for the Child and the Family” participates in the initiatives taken by the “Suzanne Mubarak Women's International Peace Movement” for the establishment of a safe environment for the civilians during armed conflicts.
The President of the “Foundation for the Child and the Family”, Ms Marianna V. Vardinoyannis is member of the Board of Trustees of the “Suzanne Mubarak Women's International Peace Movement” and participated in the 1st and 2nd Workshops for the protection of civilians (2006 and 2007), as well as in a fundraising gala for “The Children of Palestine” (2005) organised by the Suzanne Mubarak Women’s International Peace Movement, in order to raise funds for the construction of schools and lodgings for the orphan victims of the Palestinian war.
