The elimination of poverty and youth unemployment

As poverty and unemployment which affect young people are universal phenomena, the campaign for their elimination requires international mobilisation and cross-country collaboration.
The need for the creation of new strategies and application of new programmes and policies adjusted to the different standards of each country is urgent, in order for effective solutions to be applied on this enormous problem.
The YES (Youth Employment Summit) network has a leading as well as a coordinating role in the international campaign for fighting poverty and unemployment in young people.

It is already extended in 55 countries, which have positively responded to the global challenge for the elimination of youth unemployment and its strategy is driven by the following 4 main objectives:

1. Convening governments, enterprises, educational institutions, professional organisations and trade unions as well as experts to set global agenda for youth employment.
2. Building leadership and entrepreneurship capacity of youth.
3. Promoting in-country youth employment linked to development challenges
4. Building multi-sectoral in-country coalitions to develop national strategies for widespread youth employment.

The “Foundation for the Child and the Family” participates in full strength in the YES campaign and its President, Ms Marianna V. Vardinoyannis was a keynote speaker in the “4th International Youth Employment Summit on the elimination of poverty and youth unemployment” realised in Baku, under the auspices of the First Lady of the Republic of Azerbaijan and UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, Mehriban Aliyeva, and the First Lady of the Republic of Egypt, Suzanne Mubarak.
