The Foundation for the Child and the Family, as part of the World AIDS Day, devoted this year to the children who have the tragic fate to be born with the disease, has turned its attention to Greek children who are victims of the scourge of the century.

The Foundation is undertaking their care for the coming year, and is appealing to governmental and non-governmental institutions, and to every citizen, to step up the fight against AIDS and its prevention, in a common, broadened front whose aim is the recognition of children's rights, with first and foremost, their right to life and health.

In a brief address to the central conference of the World AIDS Day, organised as it is each year by the Centre for the Control of Special Diseases of the Ministry of Health, Mrs Marianna Vardinoyannis, the Foundation's President, emphasized that "if we do not all work together in a spirit of boldness and sacrifice for a better world, whose recipient, in our view, must be the child, we will all be responsible for the world we hand on to succeeding generations - a world without humanity which certainly cannot be called either "cultured" or "democratic".
